Republican candidate forum set in Schulenburg

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), John Everett Chapter, and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), Robert Ranken Chapter, recognized the home of Rita Jackson at 526 Wallace St. in Columbus for its January flag display award. Jackson has been a member of DAR for 62 years.

Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith located a stolen UTV during a traffic stop on Interstate 10 westbound at Flatonia on Monday, Jan. 12, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Sales tax allocations for Jan. total $1.2 billion

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced on Wednesday, Jan. 7 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for January, 4.9 percent more than in January 2025.
