TPWD proposes expanding antlerless deer season

The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) is considering the expansion of the current fourday antlerless season (“doe days”) in 21 counties located in the Post Oak Savannah and South-Central Texas area to a 16-day antlerless season.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that during the week of Nov. 23-29, officers responded to 59 calls for service and five reportable incidents were investigated as follows: •Nov. 24 – Officer Whited responded to the 500th block of Summit Street in reference to an intoxicated subject.

The Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department soon will purchase a new brush truck and rescue equipment to enhance its ability to fight fires and protect people and property, thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority.

A drug arrest was made after deputies responded to a disturbance on Tuesday, Nov. 18 around 11:25 a.m. on Highway 77 near Rabbs Prairie Road north of La Grange, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department soon will replace its inoperable generator with a new upgraded model to help the fire station remain operational even during power outages, thanks to a $13,219 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.
Eight new volunteers for CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties were sworn in on Nov. 18 in Bastrop.
