Spring feral hog contest to get under way Jan. 6

The Fayette County spring feral hog contest will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 6 and conclude at noon on Thursday, April 30.The contest is being held to give landowners, producers and sportsmen an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette County.

Santa made a special stop at Tenth Frame bowling alley during league night on Thursday, Dec. 4, bringing surprise and excitement to everyone on the lanes.
The SVFD OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD for 2025 went to Dylan Schilhab (center, holding plaque). He made the highest percentage of calls, meetings and drills at 89 percent. The award is sponsored annually by the family of the late Chief Roland Proske and his wife Pat Proske. Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced on Wednesday, Dec. 10 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for December, 7.5 percent more than in December 2024.
