The Texas Senate unanimously passed Sen. Lois Kolkhorst’s (R-Brenham) Senate Bill 2361, the historic legislation authorizing the transfer of the University of Houston-Victoria campus to the Texas A&M University System.

A 911 call reporting a victim with a gunshot wound to the face at a trailer park on West State Highway 71 was received by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office on Friday, April 18 around 1:48 a.m., according to Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Fayette County officials have been receiving calls from residents asking for the burn ban to be reinstated, according to a press release from the Fayette County judge's office dated Tuesday, April 15.

Emergency preparedness sales tax holiday slated

As severe weather season approaches, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans they can purchase certain items tax-free during the state’s sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies, which begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 28.
