The Fayette County Commissioners Court proclaimed the month of October as Czech Heritage Month in Fayette County at the meeting held on Thursday, Sept. 26. This year marks the 37th anniversary of the Fayette County Chapter of the Czech Heritage Society in Texas.

Drugs, weapons located during traffic stop on Hwy. 290

Two Houston men were arrested on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop on US Highway 290 in the northern part of Fayette County on Tuesday, Sept. 17, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.Sheriff Korenek reports that around 2:30 p.m., Drug Interdiction Sgt.
The pursuit, which began in the Winchester area, came to an end just south of Giddings after the suspect's vehicle was spiked by two law enforcement officials. The vehicle came to a halt in a ditch.
