Fayette County Republican Party conducts organizational meeting

The Fayette County Republican Party held its organizational meeting to a packed house, full of energy, on Monday, July 22 at the Ag Building in La Grange.The meeting was called to order by newly elected Fayette County Republican chairman Michael P. Schlabach.

JUNE 2024Sheriff Keith Korenek reports these activities of Fayette County deputies for June.Sgt. Ron Naumann took a report of chickens killed by a dog at large. The owner of the dog was located and agreed to settle the issue civilly with the owners of the chickens.

Police Report

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that during the week of July 21-27, officers responded to 62 calls for service and five reportable incidents were investigated as follows: •July 21 – Officer Powe was contacted at the police department in reference to assisting another agency.

Four plant-related classes set at Blinn-Schulenburg

25th annual Texas Sales Tax Holiday slated Aug. 9-11

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds shoppers they can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 9-11. This will be the 25th year of Texas’ oldest sales tax holiday, an annual event since 1999.

Young Farmers set hay show at Fayette Co. Fair

The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 57th annual hay show on Wednesday, Aug. 28 and Thursday, Aug. 29 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange.Judging will take place at 1 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. The hay sale will begin at 8 p.m.
