Colorado/Fayette Pecan Field Day slated April 25

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Offices of Colorado and Fayette counties are pleased to announce the 2024 Colorado/Fayette Pecan Field Day will be held on Thursday, April 25 at the Daniel Paul Wick property located at CR 200 and Wick Lane near Weimar. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports these activities of Fayette County deputies for March. Detective Marc Bennett is working numerous cases involving assaults against children. Bennett is also investigating several cases involving fraud which occurred in Fayette County. Sgt.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that during the week of April 7-13, officers responded to 102 calls for service and seven reportable incidents were investigated as follows: •April 7 – Officer Powe responded to the 4000th block of US Highway 90W in reference to assisting another agency.

April sales tax allocations total $1.03 billion

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday, April 10 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations for April, 5.5 percent more than in April 2023.

‘Aggressive’ hurricane forecast for Gulf Coast Colorado State University researchers are calling this year’s hurricane season forecast “the most aggressive” ever, the Texas Standard reported. They say there is a 54% chance a hurricane will strike the Texas coast, and a 25% chance it will be major.

Business property tax renditions due April 15

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds business owners that Monday, April 15 is the deadline to file property tax renditions with their county appraisal districts. Different deadlines apply for certain regulated property.
