Equitable distribution of radios to VFDs approved

An even distribution of radios paid for by Fayette County to 10 volunteer fire departments was approved by the Commissioners Court at its meeting on Thursday, July 27. Precinct 4 Commissioner Drew Brossmann, who also serves as the first assistant chief of the Schulenburg VFD, brought up the matter.

Wildfire chances increasing across state The risk for wildfires across the state has risen along with the hot and dry conditions, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

Young Farmers hay show entry deadline is Aug. 12

The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 56th annual Hay Show on Wednesday, Aug. 30 and Thursday, Aug. 31 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange. Judging will take place at 1 p.m. on Aug. 30 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, the Schulenburg Police Department was notified that a theft had just occurred at Pilot, which is located at the intersection of Highway 77 and Interstate 10.
