Game-three win sends Lady Horns to third round

Shaking off their game-two mistakes Friday, the Lady Horns regrouped to eliminate Refugio from the playoffs with a 9-1 win in game three that followed. Schulenburg (19-9) started the best-of-three area series in Cuero with a 7-2 victory Thursday before a 7-6 loss in the second game.

Teen fatally injured in rollover accident

A vehicle accident on private property off County Road 211 northeast of Hallettsville claimed the life of 16-year-old Landon Wayne Koehne of Schulenburg on Friday, May 5.

Council awards bid for water line, street rebuild

A bid to replace water lines and reconstruct a street was awarded to WJC Constructors at last week’s Schulenburg City Council meeting. The Smithville-based company came in with the low bid of $1,134,912.51, some $3,000 under the $1,138,000 that the City budgeted for the work.

Changes to subdivision regulations discussed

A two-hour workshop of the Fayette County Commissioners Court on Thursday, May 4 was filled with discussion and comments on noise and subdivision regulations. The first part of the special meeting was spent on noise levels and included county residents who were present at the April 27 meeting.
