Planning for sesquicentennial celebration continues

A group of local officials and interested citizens held their third meeting last week to continue planning for Schulenburg’s 150th birthday celebration. A downtown event has been schedule for Saturday, Dec. 2, incorporating Santa’s visit.

Unemployment rates stay steady in June for state, county while Texas sets records for jobs, employment, labor force

Texas broke three records in June with number of jobs, number employed, and the size of the state’s civilian labor force, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remained at 4.1 percent statewide from May.

TxDOT starts work on US 77 north of town

The Yoakum District of the Texas Department of Transportation announced via social media that its district-wide seal coat project would be continuing this week on U. S. Highway 77. The work was scheduled to start on Tuesday, July 18 at the Schulenburg city limits and head northward.
