Adam and Amber Venghaus of Schulenburg are proud to announce the birth of their second son, Landon Hayes Venghaus. Landon arrived at 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023 at St. David’s Women’s Center in Austin. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 21 inches in length.

Abbott issues disaster declaration, seeks fed help Gov. Greg Abbot has issued a disaster declaration for Texas counties affected by the early February ice storm and is seeking a federal declaration as well for areas in Southeast Texas affected by rare January tornadoes.

The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) in La Grange has been making improvements since March 2022, after emerging from the COVID period.

A Black History Month community celebration and church service will be held at Stevens Chapel United Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18-19. A parade will kick off at 10 a.m. There will also be a black history program, food, music and fun activities.
