The Shorthorns swept Charlotte 5-1, 13-3 in a best-of-three area series last week in Kenedy to advance to the Class 2A Division I Region IV semifinals.
The joint election for the City of Schulenburg and Schulenburg ISD was held Saturday, May 2 at the Schulenburg Public Library. A total of 282 ballots were case in the City election while the school board race drew 519 votes, according to the Office of the Fayette County Elections Administrator.

The Fayette County Republican Party will host a town hall meeting in Schulenburg on Tuesday, May 12 with county judge candidates Josh Homan and Josh Vandever.The event will take place at the American Legion Post in Wolters Park, 1015 WestAve. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Schulenburg out-scored Kenedy 28-4 in two games of their bi-district series last week to advance in the Class 2A Division I playoffs. Both ended by run rule as the Horns out-hit the Lions 25-6.
Three youngsters land a catch at the first Pond Patrol kids’ fishing tournament sponsored by the Schulenburg Police Association and held Saturday, May 3 at the Sports Complex. Awards were presented in each of the three age divisions. See EDUCATION-YOUTH for a photo of the recipients.
The Schulenburg Police Association will be hosting its first “Pond Patrol” kids fishing tournament this Saturday, May 2.The event will take place at the Schulenburg Sports Complex pond from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Youngsters ages 5 to 12 are invited to participate. The entry fee is $20.
