An 18-wheeler burst into flames (above, left) after running off the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 on Monday, July 27. The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department responded at 7:15 p.m. to the location, about three miles west of the Schulenburg exit.

The Schulenburg City Council approved a contract with Texas Right of Way at its regular meeting Monday night,Aug. 3 for appraisal services related to a $3.89 million grant through the General Land Office that was received a couple of years ago.
