Sports Complex gets spruced up with LCRA’s ‘Steps Forward Day’

More than 750 Lower Colorado RiverAuthority employees spread out across Texas to tackle more than 45 community improvement projects during LCRA’s annual Steps Forward Day.In Schulenburg, 13 spent last Friday morning painting the two bridges and entrance ramp rails at the Sports Complex.

Storm brings needed rain but also causes mishaps

While the six-plus inches of rain were a welcomed sight on Sunday, lightning from the storm sparked two house fire calls and contributed to other minor calamities.The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1:36 p.m. in the 500 block of Baumgarten Street.

Top teams at 11th Annual Schulenburg Sausagefest

The crowds, cookers, and vendors filled three blocks of North Main Street this past Saturday for the 11th Annual Schulenburg Sausagefest.A total of 15 teams competed in the six sausage-making contest categories. They submitted over 102 entries.
To celebrate America’s 250th birthday, 250 “Liberty Trees” will be planted this fall all across the county. Colorado Valley Communications is the first Gold Sponsor for the project.
