Lions Club Nontraditional Student ScholarshipThe Schulenburg Lions Club is offering one or more $2,000 nontraditional student scholarships. The scholarship can be used for secondary education, going back to school, graduate studies, work certifications, technical school, nursing programs, etc.

Sticker garners 11 awards in regional newspaper contests

The Sticker received a total of 11 awards in two “better newspaper” contests sponsored by regional press associations.Entries came from issues published during 2024.

State unemployment stays steady in March while area rates decrease

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Texas registered at 4.1 percent in March, the third straight month at that level, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.The rate for Fayette County (not seasonally adjusted) dropped 0.4 of a percent, from 4.2 percent in February to 3.8 in March.

Getting a jump on Easter

Youngsters race to gather eggs outside the Schulenburg Public Library as part of Easter activities held this past Saturday morning, April 12.The event, hosted by Friends of the Library, drew around 40 kids and also included an Easter story, snacks, as well as a visit from the Easter Bunny.

FFA’ers earn spot in state contest

The Schulenburg FFA dairy judging team – (from left) Jolene Jarvis, Kenna Oliver, Landry Zapalac, and Mikayla Stang – competed in the Area XI Dairy Judging Contest at Tarleton State University this past week. The team ended up placing eighth in area and first in district.
