State unemployment stays steady in February, most area rates increase

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Texas registered at 4.1 percent in February, unchanged from the previous month, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.Fayette County’s rate (not seasonally adjusted) increased 0.1 percent from January to 4.1 percent. Unemployment went up 0.

By a 37-stroke margin, the Shorthorns defended their District 28-2A golf title at the challenging 18-hole layout of Victoria Country Club on Monday, March 31.While the team claimed a second straight championship, Reid Janda earned low individual honors for the third consecutive year.

Judge lifts burn ban

Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller announced on Monday, March 31 that he lifted the ban on outdoor burning but also stated in a press release that the County does reserve the right to reinstate it if windy and dry conditions return.
