Admin contract extensions approved, resignations accepted by school board

Following an executive session at last week’s Schulenburg ISD Board of Trustees meeting, contract extensions for administrators were approved in open session.Among those were Secondary Principal Callene Zapalac, whose contract was extended through the 2027-28 school year.

This year’s Sausagefest scheduled for April 11

The 11th Annual Schulenburg Sausagefest will be held downtown on Saturday, April 11.The event will take place on North Main Street between LyonsAvenue and WoltersAvenue, including the Railroad Park. Admission is free.Sausage-making contests, as always, highlight the event.

School board trustees approve early resignation notice incentive by 5-2 vote

Revisiting a topic that was discussed and tabled at last month’s meeting, the Schulenburg ISD Board of Trustees voted on March 23 in favor of incentivising employees under contract who plan to leave to submit their resignations early.

Next year’s school calendar includes later start, five fewer days

After hearing Superintendent Lee Hafley’s modifications to two other proposed calendars for the 2026-27 school year, the Schulenburg ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to go with his option at its meeting Monday, March 23.
