18-wheeler fire shuts down I-10 on Sunday

Members of the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department work to fully extinguish flames from an 18-wheeler fire late Sunday afternoon. SVFD Chief Darren Guentert said that he arrived at the scene around 3:35 p.m. to see the cab fully engulfed. Six trucks and 19 personnel responded.

Janecek outshines Sells in bi-district win

The two quarterbacks put up some gaudy numbers in last Friday’s bi-district game in New Braunfels but the Shorthorns’ Aaron Janecek got the better of Three Rivers’Cody Sells in Schulenburg’s 42-28 win.With the Horns’ backfield depleted, Janecek carried the load.

Sprinkler system for Civic Center considered

With interior renovations ongoing at the Civic Center, the Schulenburg City Council discussed adding a fire sprinkler system at its meeting Monday, Nov. 18.While the aldermen agreed it would be a good idea, they didn’t move forward with a vote.

SPD makes assault arrest

On Thursday, Nov. 14 at approximately 8 p.m., the Schulenburg Police Department was dispatched to the Pilot truck stop/convenience store in reference to an assault.Officers made contact with the victim, who advised them that a male subject attempted to stab him with a knife.

Several reports of scams in which victims have lost a very significant sum of money have been received by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and La Grange Police Department, according to Sheriff Keith Korenek.
