AWaelder man was arrested on marijuana charges following a traffic stop in Schulenburg on Tuesday, March 19, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek. Sheriff Korenek reported that around 10:45 p.m.

April proclaimed Autism Acceptance Month in Fayette County

The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation declaring April as Autism Acceptance Month in Fayette County at its regular meeting on Thursday, March 14. Turtle Wing Foundation Executive Director Destiny Siptak was on hand to accept the proclamation.

Trustees get ‘Guardian’ update, meet ‘Birdie’

A progress report on implementation of the “Guardian Program” at Schulenburg ISD was given to the Board of Trustees at its meeting Monday, March 18. Superintendent Dr. Julie Motomura said that staff participants had completed their “license to carry” and “active shooter” training.

EMS Director Josh Vandever informed the Fayette County Commissioners Court at its meeting on Thursday, March 14 that a County ambulance and personnel were stationed in Ozona since March 11 as part of a Texas A&M Forest Service and Texas Emergency Medical Task Force.

Students’ essays, poems highlight second ‘Women Making History’ event

The League of Women Voters of South Central Texas celebrated Women’s History Month with its second annual “Women Making History” event. It was held on Sunday, March 10 at Sengelmann Hall in Schulenburg and began with a welcome by Schulenburg Mayor Connie Koopmann.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department issued a scam warning on Thursday, March 14. The Sheriff’s Office received reports of someone calling Fayette County citizens and claiming to represent the Sheriff’s Department.

The Schulenburg Ministerial Alliance will host its annual Community Good Friday Service on March 29 at noon. It will be held at First United Methodist Church, 209 North Upton Ave. The Rev. Lemae Higgs, pastor of Swiss Alp Lutheran Church will preach and a light meal will follow. A free-will offering to support the work of the Ministerial Alliance will be taken and its pastors wish all a very blessed Holy Week and Easter.

The B Haus Nursery & Marketplace has grand opening

What started as a dream for the Bubelas, has now come to fruition. Colton and Morgan Bubela are the proud owners of The B Haus, Nursery & Marketplace at Bubela Tree Farm. The B Haus is a nursery that sits right outside the back door of the remodeled 1930s farmhouse that has become the marketplace.
