For the second straight year, the Shorthorn golf team will advance to the regional event but, for the first time since 2013, the Schulenburg High boys’ squad claimed a district title.

Schulenburg Police Department officers stopped a vehicle on Interstate 10 westbound on Thursday, March 28 for multiple traffic violations, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old man from Richmond.

Shorthorn junior places seventh at state meet

Schulenburg High School junior Calvin Thompson finished seventh out of 11 qualifiers in the superheavyweight class of the Division 4 state meet. The event, hosted by the Texas High School Powerlifting Association, was held on Saturday, March 23 in Abilene.

Precautions urged when burning even with wet conditions

The recent rains Fayette County and the surrounding area received have opened up a window of opportunity to burn brush that has piled up over the winter months. However, caution is still urged.
