Legion honors Stanzel for 75 years of membership

American Legion Post 143 in Schulenburg recently honored its oldest and longest-serving member, James Stanzel. At 97 years old, Stanzel has 75 years of service in the American Legion, all with Post 143. In June 1945, Stanzel was drafted into the Army when he was 18 years old.

April declared as Fair Housing Month in Fayette County

The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation declaring April 2024 as Fair Housing Month in Fayette County. Local realtors Jack Maddox, Samantha Pietsch, and Hannah Mica, all members of the South Central Board of Realtors, were present for the proclamation signing.

While there wasn’t a promise of appearances by Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid, or Woody Harrelson, representatives of “The Texas Film Corridor” indicated that those famous actors chose to return to Texas and many favor working in the Lone Star State rather than California.

Petition for annexation of EMS Station 4 OK’d

A voluntary annexation petition for the EMS Station 4 property to be annexed into the City of Schulenburg was approved at the Fayette County Commissioners Court meeting on Thursday, March 28.

Stanzel Museum marking 25th anniversary with celebration
