Entries sought for Festival Pageant

The Schulenburg Festival Scholarship Pageant will be held on Saturday, July 18 at the Knights of Columbus Schulenburg Hall at 6:30 p.m.The pageant entry deadline is quickly approaching on Wednesday, July 8. No late entries will be accepted after that date.

Over 20 pounds of meth found after traffic stop on I-10

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that Deputy Cody Williams conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 westbound that led to the arrest of two individuals from San Antonio for possession of methamphetamine.It occurred on Saturday, June 6 around 10:58 p.m.

“Old Glory” will become 249 years old on Flag Day, June 14. Fayette County will celebrate this anniversary with song and ceremony in a special program at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14 on the courthouse lawn in La Grange. The “stars and stripes” were officially adopted by Congress on this day in 1777.

Arrest made in shooting at trail ride

Last Wednesday, May 27, Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that an arrest was made in the fatal shooting that occurred at the “Best Thang Smoking” trail ride.The incident occurred on Saturday, April 26 at the R.C. Pavilion on Munke Road southwest of La Grange.

Lease for wind energy development on Baylor Co. land approved

After a very lengthy discussion, the Fayette County Commissioners Court unanimously approved an easement/lease and memorandum of easement for wind energy development between Fayette County and Engie IR Holdings, LLC for lands owned by Fayette County and located in Baylor County.
