Mildred Anne Mazoch

Mildred Anne Mazoch, 96, a resident of Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, and entered the peacefulness of heaven. Mildred was born on Monday, February 8, 1926, in Weimar, TX. She was the second and middle daughter of Joe and Hedwig (Guenther) Heger.

While growing up, Mildred attended Sedan School in Weimar. Mildred went from being a farmer’s daughter to being a farmer’s wife. Mildred married Edmund Mazoch on Tuesday, November 12, 1946, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Weimar, TX upon his returning home from WWII.

In 1955, Edmund and Mildred along with their young family moved from Holman to the High Hill area and joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was active with the St. Anne’s Society.

Being devout Catholics throughout their lives, Mildred and Edmund made sure that their children received a strong Catholic education by sending them to St. Rose Catholic School and Bishop Forest High School in Schulenburg.

Over the years, Mildred spent her time on the farm with sewing, cooking large family dinners for the holidays and baking such delicious items as cookies, strudels, kolaches, cakes, and her rum fruit cake. She canned items such as peaches, pickles, pears, and beets which were always greatly enjoyed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides praying the rosary every day and going to church, and watching Wheel of Fortune, family was the next important thing in her life. Mildred never missed a moment getting together with the family, no matter if it was a Heger family get-together on the family homestead in Weimar or the Mazoch reunions in Holman, or even just the holidays, Mildred enjoyed being surrounded by her loved ones.

After Edmund’s passing in 2018, Mildred became a resident of the Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center.
