Alvin James Mueller , 76 of Weimar, passed away on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025 at the Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion in Victoria.
Alvin was born on July 19, 1949 in Schulenburg to Frankie and Hattie (Krecmer) Mueller. He was one of six children in his family. He attended St. Rose School in Schulenburg, Bishop Forest High School in Schulenburg, and attended Sam Houston State University studying agriculture.
On Aug. 6, 1971, Alvin married his high school sweetheart, Mary Louise Anders, and they enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage together.
Alvin worked as a truck driver at Herder Truck Lines for several years. Eventually he decided he wanted to be home more for his wife and kids, so he began his career at M-G Inc. at the Egg Division. In 1994 he became the manager at M-G Implement where he worked until retirement. After Alvin retired from M-G Implement, he didn’t want to sit at home, so he returned to M-G and drove a truck delivering feed. He truly enjoyed all the friends he made during his many years employed at M-G Inc. He was also a retired Weimar volunteer firefighter.
Alvin and Mary were blessed with three children – a daughter, Kellie Mueller Hattermann and husband Byron of Weimar, and sons Lee Mueller and wife Amanda of Weimar, and Kyle Mueller and wife Lindsay of East Bernard. The joy of their life was spending time with their six grandchildren, Haylie Cernoch and husband Carlton, Hanna Hattermann and fiance Justin, and Braden, Brynlee, Noah and Reese Mueller.
Alvin was truly a family man and was so proud of the family he and Mary raised. He let everyone know that his kids and grandkids were his world. He rarely missed any sporting events when his kids were growing up, and made every attempt to never miss a chance to watch his grandkids play sports. You could always see him in purple for the Wildcats, and maroon for East Bernard. He was their biggest supporter and never missed a chance to throw in a few of his own coaching tips along the way. This past May, he was so excited to watch his oldest granddaughter Haylie get married. He enjoyed the day to the fullest. He was looking forward to seeing his other granddaughter get married this April. He promised her he would be smiling down on them on their wedding day.
Alvin loved to hunt and spend weekends at the deer lease with his boys, grandsons and friends. He always had the best stories about deer, campfires and fun times with family and friends at deer camp. Alvin also enjoyed attending to his cattle ranches. He and his friend Harvey Barton had a great cattle partnership and an even better friendship. His sons and Byron hope to continue tending his cattle in the future.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; daughter Kellie and husband Byron; son Lee and wife Amanda; son Kyle and wife Lindsay. He is also survived by his six loving grandchildren, Haylie (and Carlton), Hanna (and Justin), Braden, Brynlee, Noah and Reese; as well as brothers, Dan Mueller and wife Vi, and Gary Mueller and wife Vicki; sisters Barbara Kalina, Theresa Mueller and Donna Neiser and husband Danny; sister-in-law Linda Radke and husband Al Wayne; brother-in-law Edwin Joe Anders and wife Rita; and brother-in-law Alan Anders and wife Sandra.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frankie and Hattie Mueller; in-laws Edwin and Mary Anders; and brother-in-law BJ Kalina.
Alvin will be remembered for his kindness, his strong work ethic, and always willing to help others at any time. His family was his pride and joy, and he told people that all the time.
The past six months have been a health struggle for Alvin, and he leaned on his wife and kids for help and support. Whenever someone helped him, he never ever failed to say “thank you” with a smile every single time, no matter how he was feeling. “We will miss his sweet smile, his generosity, the family card games, and his constant love and support. He was the best husband, dad, and PawPaw. He was definitely the rock of our family,” his family writes.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, with a rosary that followed at 6 p.m. The funeral was held on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
