Clarence Charles Ulrich

Clarence Charles Ulrich of Weimar passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center at age 86 years, 8 months, 26 days.

Funeral Mass was held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020 at 11 am. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in High Hill, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Officiating were Rev. Felix Twumasi and Deacon Jay Vocelka. Pallbearers were nephews Greg Ulrich of Weimar and Steve Ulrich of Schulenburg; niece Brenda Kallus of Spring; and great-nephews Judson Ulrich of Weimar, Shay Ulrich of Katy and Reid Ulrich of College Station. Honorary pallbearers were niece Pam Vrazel of Schulenburg, and nephews Keith Ulrich of Alexandria, La., Scott Ulrich of Pineville, La. and Nathan Vrazel of Schulenburg. Burial with full military honors was provided by the Schulenburg American Legion.

Rosary was led by Rev. Twumasi and Deacon Vocelka at 10:30 a.m. at the church, prior to the funeral Mass.

Born at the family home in Freyburg on Feb. 16, 1934, he was the son of Adolph Sr. and Wilhelmina (Olbort) Ulrich. He attended Abbotts Grove School. From 1952-55, he served in the U.S. Air Force. On June 5, 1965, he married Elizabeth Gurdon at All Saints Catholic Church in Houston. He lived in Houston from 1955 to 2000, and Weimar from 2000-20. He was a welder and general supervisor, working for 47 years at the same company, Mosher Steel of Houston. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Houston and St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar. He was also a member of Catholic Life Insurance and Hermann Sons Life. He enjoyed bowling and watching the Houston Astros. He also loved to go to casinos. After retirement, he was engaged in raising cattle on their family farm south of Weimar.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Gurdon Ulrich; a son, Peter Ulrich of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Kallus of Spring; a brother, Elmer Ulrich and wife Arline of Schulenburg; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Ulrich of Alexandria, La.; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His parents and two brothers, Delphin Ulrich and Adolph Ulrich Jr., preceded him in death.
