Joseph Oscar Renner was born on Sept. 7, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa to Hubert and Opal Renner. He was one of 10 children. Joe was a distinguished Vietnam veteran and accomplished entrepreneur, before passing away.
Joe’s life journey began with his service to this country during the Vietnam War, in the 1st Cavalry Division where he displayed the courage, commitment and determination that he would later bring to his business ventures.
After his military service was completed, Joe applied himself to the world of construction, establishing a reputation as an expert in all aspects of the field. Joe’s life was marked by his exceptional contributions to this industry, in which he built a long and successful career. Over the years, he became a sought-after consultant, widely respected for his deep knowledge and expertise. His work can still be seen today in numerous projects, a lasting legacy of his skill and dedication to his craft. His entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic were admired by many, and he was often called upon for his insight and wisdom. His influence extended far beyond his projects, as he mentored numerous others in the industry.
In his personal life, Joe was a man of strong character, known for his warmth, generosity and the deep relationships he cultivated. He was always ready to offer advice or share a story, sometimes over a glass of bourbon, with those he cared about. His family and friends were central to his life, and he was proud of the bonds he created with people over the years.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Gina Lemoine Renner, and his three children, Josh T. Renner, Colby T. Renner and Alie Smith, and numerous grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply. In addition to his family, Joe leaves behind a wide circle of friends who became like family to him.
His presence, wisdom, and friendship will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024. His celebration of life will begin at 9:45 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Road, San Antonio, with Interment following at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.
