Rose Lehmann

Funeral services for Rose Lehmann, 80 of Winchester, were held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester with Rev. Nate Hill officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, Rose Ann (Petrash) Lehmann was called home to be in the eternal loving arms of our Savior Jesus.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Rose was born on Jan. 3, 1943 in Hallettsville. She was baptized on Jan. 10, 1943. She attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School and Bishop Forest High School in Schulenburg and moved to Houston shortly thereafter where she met Charles Lehmann of Winchester on a blind date on Friday the 13th.

She was confirmed into the Lutheran faith on Dec. 20, 1964 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Houston. Her confirmation verse was Revelation 2:10.

Charles and Rose married on Feb. 6, 1965 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and spent 58 years in an abiding marriage and friendship, living in Houston, Richwood, College Station, Victoria and the family farm in Winchester, where they raised three daughters. Charles and Rose were longtime members of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church.

A professional homemaker, wife and mother, true to her name, Rose found great peace and serenity in gardening, yard work and the solitude of farm life, spending years providing tender care to roses and flowering plants and was a staunch advocate for all animals and birds. In good health, she was a prolific baker and made sure her family had three homecooked meals each day. She also played endless games with her daughters, family and grandchildren and was a fierce domino champion and lover of Czech music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Annie Petrash, and her sister, Virginia Petrash Maly. She is survived by her best friend and doting husband, Charles Lehmann; daughters, Denise Becker and husband Glenn of Victoria, Sheila Bojorquez and husband Alan of Austin, and Jennifer Harper and husband Matt of Georgetown. Known lovingly as Moe, she is survived by her precious grandchildren, Trenton, Cameron, Caroline, Kylie, Wit, Bryn, Chase and Sarah and their fur babies, who were all frequent and welcomed visitors to the farm, where a lifetime of happy memories were made. Rose is also survived by a sister-in-law, Linda Noack of Smithville; brother, Tony and wife Agnes Petrash of Houston; and sister, Helen and husband David Cathey, also of Houston. She leaves behind a nephew and nieces, Chad Petrash, Crystal Guillory, Courtney Chapman and Cassandra Cathey, all of Houston, and Cecelia Young of Purmela, and their sweet children, Rose’s great-nieces and great-nephews.

To honor Rose’s earthly life, please donate to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester or to the angels at Hospice Brazos Valley, who brought Rose, Charles and their family utmost care and compassion in her final months, weeks, days and hours.

Arrangements were by Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
