Victoria “Vickie” Wagner of Schulenburg passed away of a sudden illness on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020 at Lavaca Medical Center in Hallettsville at age 85 years, 10 months. The funeral was set for Wednesday,

The funeral was set for Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Rev. Tim Kosler officiating and interment in the church cemetery. Named to serve as pallbearers were grandchildren Danny Hartensteiner, Kevin Hartensteiner and Kelsey Hartensteiner, and nephews Jimmy Anders, Keith Anders and Danny Joe Bujnoch. Named as hon orary pallbearers were Chloe Alex Hartensteiner, Ashtyn Schaefer, Avery Hartensteiner, Briley Hartensteiner and Haley Hartensteiner.

Rosary was set for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at the church, with Rev. Kosler as the leader.

Born in Hallettsville on Jan. 21, 1935, she was the daughter of Alfred and Annie (Christ) Etzler. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hallettsville. On Sept. 30, 1957, she married Daniel J. Wagner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. She lived in Lavaca County for 22 years and Fayette County for 63 years, and worked over 50 years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Medical Associates in Schulenburg. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

She loved to bake dinner rolls, kolaches and her poppyseed ring. Puzzles, dominoes, watching football and baseball, especially the Astros, were some of her favorite things to do. She loved flowers, especially zinnias that reminded her of her childhood. She was always amazed by her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s intelligence.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Hartensteiner and husband Clarence of Schulenburg, and Donna Wagner of Hallettsville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, four brothers, four sisters, four nephews and one niece.

The family requests donations be made to St. Rose Church, St. Rose School, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
