Willie Mae (Barton) Kristynik of Weimar passed away on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021 at 5:48 a.m. at Columbus Community Hospital after a two-month illness. She reached the age of 87 years, 3 months, 8 days.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Dubina, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Fr. Wayne Flagg officiated. Grandsons who served as pallbearers were Brian Baca, Kevin Baca, Chris McClanahan, Brandon Kristynik, Benjamin Johns, Kyle Bludau, Cole Young, Clint Moeller and Josh Rodriguez.
Rosary was said on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at the church, led by Gladys Muras.
Born in Dubina on May 21, 1934, she was the daughter of John and Martha (Dusek) Barton. She attended Schulenburg High School to the ninth grade. On June 16, 1952, she married Eugene August Kristynik at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Dubina. She was a lifelong resident of the Weimar/Dubina area and was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Dubina. She was a farmer, business owner and at the time of her death a retired housewife. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters (serving as treasurer), Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary (serving as sentry), KJZT (serving as secretary for over 40 years) and Bishop Forest High School Board. She also served as Fayette County Dubina Precinct election official for over 40 years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, canning and farm life. She especially loved her family, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Baca of Cypress and Sharon Simmons and husband Rick of American Fork, Utah; three sons, Anthony Kristynik and wife Audrey of Dubina, Dennis Kristynik and wife Mary Lou of High Hill, and Robert Kristynik and wife Anne Marie of Dubina; a sister, Jane Lee Dusek of Dubina; a brother, Johnny Barton and wife Cynthia of Dubina; and nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Eugene Kristynik; parents, John and Martha Barton; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Barton; brother-in-law, Joe J. Dusek; great-grandson, Colton McClanahan; and infant sister, Dorothy.
Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
