Presentation for Thomas’ Stories I’ve Been Told - Vol. 3 held at library
Dolores Vacek, a Schulenburg native, shared a story in the new book about the summer of 1942 when she helped pick cotton after her cousin, Benno Christ, had left for World War II service.

The Friends of the Schulenburg Public Library celebrated the publication of
by Fayette County author Elaine Thomas with a book presentation and signing on Saturday, Nov. 11. Of the 30 portraits of Fayette County residents in the new title, 13 have ties to Schulenburg.
“We had a wonderful crowd including those whose stories are included in the book and their families, family members of those who are no longer with us and members of the community,” Diana Mikesky, president of the Friends organization, said, “It was an awesome way to celebrate a local author.”
