Weimar library to host chess tournament, book club

Weimar Chess Tournament, sponsored by the Weimar Public Library, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Weimar Civic Center, 1754 IH 10, Weimar.There will be three age divisions – primary division, ages 5-10; senior division, ages 1116; and adult division, ages 17 and up.

SRT announces Presidio La Bahia Award winners

The Sons of the Republic of Texas (SRT) proudly announce the recipients of the prestigious Presidio La Bahia Award for 2025. The awards were presented during a ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 6 in the ancient Our Lady of Loreto Chapel at the Presidio La Bahia, near Goliad.

Entertainers announced for Jan. 19 Opry in La Grange

The Fayette County Country Music Club will host its monthly Opry on Monday, Jan. 19 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange. The show will start at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $8.

Knights of Columbus announce award recipients at Christmas party

Schulenburg Knights of Columbus Council 2902 presented awards at its Christmas party held at the Schulenburg Hall on Sunday, Dec. 7. The annual Christmas party was held in conjunction with the Catholic Daughters Court St. Rose and St. Rose Altar Society.

4-H Shooting Sports Club donates to nursing home

The Fayette County 4-H Shooting Sports Club donated blankets and socks to each resident at Monument Hill Nursing Home in La Grange on Wednesday, Dec. 17 prior to Christmas – a little gift that can go a long way.
