Police chief gives program at Literary Club meeting

The Schulenburg Literary Club met on Oct. 14 in the Schulenburg Public Library. Hostesses were Peggy Halamicek, Natalie Horak, Diana Mikesky and Kathy Rorschach. They served a delicious lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, Asian coleslaw, spinach artichoke dip, “tombstone” crackers and chips.

Program, book-signing set Oct. 23 at Fayette library

As Veterans Day approaches, the Fayette Heritage Museum & Archives in La Grange is sponsoring a program and book-signing about veteran and Fayette County native, Robert Lee Melcher, on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Fayette Public Library.

The Schulenburg High School Shorthorn class of 1963 held its reunion at the home of Harlan and Betty Guettermann on Oct. 12. Reunions are held on a yearly basis and provide the opportunity to get together as a class and retain close relationships.

FSB donates to new local non-profit Led + Fed

Fayette Savings Bank is proud to make a donation to a new, local non-profit organization called Led + Fed (“Led and Fed”).Nathan and Jenny Neiser, both Schulenburg area natives, started Led + Fed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2024 in an effort to share God’s love by feeding people.

Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites near La Grange, in collaboration with Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT), will present “Memories of Monument Hill: A Lantern-Led Theatrical Experience” on Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25.

Board members of the Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum in La Grange hosted a dinner for the Mladá Muzika Sardice and Dulcimer Band from Kyjov, Czech Republic on Friday, Sept. 26.The dinner included band members, their sponsors, and TCHCC staff, board members and volunteers.
