Literary Club kicks off new club year at luncheon

The social committee of the Schulenburg Literary Club hosted a kick off luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 9 to begin the new club year. The event took place in the Schulenburg Public Library’s meeting room which was resplendent in gold and silver, the day’s theme.

John C. Landa Jr., the “Schulenbirder,” sent these photos of rubythroated hummingbirds taken in his yard off Steiber Road. He says that the two photos which show the ruby-red throat (above and bottom, right) are a male.

Garden Club kicks off new year with blooming start

The Schulenburg Garden Club held its first meeting of the 202526 year on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at the First Baptist Church.President Bonnie Baker welcomed 14 members and six guests to the luncheon gathering, which opened with the traditional Garden Club Prayer.
