Polka Lovers museum hosts group from Houston

The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) in La Grange, which began offering polka and waltz instructions during events in 2024, recently hosted 40 members of Steve Fang’s Houston Morning Exercise Group.

Legion and Auxiliary had monthly meetings Aug. 5

American Legion McBride Post 143 and Auxiliary held their monthly meetings on Tuesday, Aug. 5. Commander Bob Heinrich called the meeting to order with 39 Legion and 10Auxiliary members in attendance. Auxiliary president Patricia Hranicky read the prayer.

50 attend Hermann Sons Life meeting

Fifty members and guests were present at the Schulenburg Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at Oakridge Restaurant. The pledge of allegiance to both flags was recited. The minutes were approved as read and Chelsea Moeller gave the financial report.

St. James Baptist Church Fish FrySt. James Baptist Church will hold a fish fry on Friday, Aug. 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with pickup at St. James Baptist Church, 1103 James Ave. Plates ($12 each) will include fried fish, baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies and dessert.
