Smith-McMillan DAR uses grant to buy books for four county libraries

The Smith-McMillan Chapter, Daughters of the Revolution, presented books to four community libraries in Fayette County during December, thanks to a NSDAR “Stars & Stripes – America 250! Celebration” grant.

Senior Connections hosts joyful holiday celebration in Schulenburg

The spirit of the season was alive and well at the K.C. Hall in Schulenburg on Wednesday, Dec. 18 as approximately 90 members from all three of locations, volunteers and guests of Senior Connections gathered for a festive holiday celebration.
A ‘snowman elf’ dropped by Senior Connections over the holidays to spread some Christmas cheer. Virginia Berry brought gift bags of goodies for the members and sang carols with the help of Alfreda Ellisons’s grandaughter, Reygan Hutchson.

Nominees sought for Women Making History recognition

Each March, the League of Women Voters of South Central Texas celebrates Women’s History Month by recognizing special women in the community.In 2023, the League recognized the eight women serving as mayors of South Central Texas towns.
A $25,000 grant was presented by LCRA representatives to La Fayette Masonic Lodge 34 for improvements to its historic building as part of LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program. LCRA awards grant to La Fayette Masonic Lodge

La Fayette Masonic Lodge 34 in La Grange soon will have a new roof and HVAC system that will make the building usable for a variety of meetings, classes and other community events, thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and City of La Grange.

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $2,500 to Woven Ministry. Monies donated will be used to fund outreach gatherings. Woven Ministry is an interdenominational ministry for women, providing Bible studies, retreats and community-wide outreach.
