Local volleyball camp set

The Lady Horn Volleyball Camp will be held Monday, July 17 through Wednesday, July 19 at Schulenburg High School Gym. The schedule for each day of the camp is: 7:30-10 a.m. – incoming fifth, sixth, and seventh graders; 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – incoming eighth and ninth graders.

Vets fall 8-6 against New Ulm

The Weimar Vets stranded four runners in scoring position over the final two innings and committed five errors in an 8-6 loss to New Ulm this past Sunday, July 9. Ryker Goehring put the Vets ahead early with a two-run home run but the Firemen took a 4-2 lead through the bottom of the fourth.

UIL’s Lone Star Cup standings finalized

Point totals became final on June 20 for the University Interscholastic League’s Lone Star Cup, awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications. Scores are based on team performances in district and state championships.

Free youth soccer camp slated in Weimar

The Weimar Youth Soccer Club will be holding summer camp, free of charge, to incoming first through eighth graders from Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14. It will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. each at Weimar Soccer Park. Sign up online at https://tinyurl.com/ campWYSC23. The deadline is July 6.

Magliolo named to ‘Super Elite’ team

Meredith Magliolo, a junior this past school year, clears 5-feet, 5-inches at the state track meet in May to secure the Class 2A gold medal. Last week, she was one of 15 announced as selections to the Texas High School Coaches Association Girls Track & Field Super Elite Team.

Twin Cities competes in four Little League all-star tourneys

All but one of the Little League Texas East District 13 all-star tournaments were completed last week with Twin Cities competing in four events. Only the Minor League (9- and 10-year-old) boys’ division had yet to be decided.

Summer Volleyball League schedule

The schedule for the Schulenburg Summer Volleyball League, with varsity (V), junior varsity (JV), and freshman (F) divisions, follows. The league – with eight varsity teams, eight JV teams, and six freshman teams – will finish up with a bracket-play tournament beginning on Wednesday, July 19.
