Locals place in tennis tourney held in Shiner

Shiner hosted the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) September Slam on Saturday, Sept. 6. Over 40 players from Victoria, Austin, Edna,Yoakum, Cuero, Goliad, and Hallettsville as well as four from Schulenburg competed.Caden Herzik competed in the top-rated blue bracket and placed fourth.

St. Rose falls to Sacred Heart in home opener

St. Rose hosted Sacred Heart for its home opener last week and committed six turnovers in a 28-14 loss.The Braves took advantage of two first-half give-aways. Defensively, the Cardinals had solid play from Bryson Ohnheiser, Kaleb Zapalac, Nathan Vacek, Will Herzik, and Cannon Lykke.

Rogers completes comeback win over Shorthorns in overtime

Lady Horns down RT-C, fall to Burton

After a four-set win at Round Top-Carmine last Tuesday, the Lady Horns suffered a 3-0 loss at home against Burton on Friday.Schulenburg (18-12) edged the Cubettes by two points in game one on Sept. 2 before dropping the second set by three.

SISD performs well at Shiner XC meet

The Shorthorns and Lady Horns had good showings in the Shiner Cross Country Meet held on Thursday, Sept. 4 at Green-Dickson Park.Daniel Moreno started off in the junior high race by finishing fourth in the Class 1A-2A division.

Panthers host Horns Friday for 7:00 kickoff

For their first road game of the season, the Shorthorns will travel to Burton this Friday night, Sept. 12 to face the 2-0 Panthers.Rather than the usual start time of 7:30, kickoff is set for 7 p.m.So far in 2025, Burton has defeated Holland 36-13 and Hearne 27-25.
