UIL sends Horns south in football for 2024-26

After traveling north for two years, the Shorthorns will be heading in the opposite direction with the biennial reclassification and realignment announced by the University Interscholastic League on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Horns take over first place in 28-2A

After holding two district opponents to under 35 points in pair of wins last week, the Shorthorns found themselves atop the 28-2A standings. Bloomington had been undefeated in district play but lost 4544 in overtime against Shiner on Jan. 23 and suffered a 68-43 loss to Flatonia on Jan. 26.

Schulenburg Knights of Columbus Council 2902 hosted the local level of the K. of C. Free Throw Championships on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Schulenburg ISD Gym with 35 youngsters participating.

Lady Horns fall to Ganado, Weimar

After an 11-point loss in Ganado and a 34-point decision at home against Weimar, the Lady Horns’ season record stood at 5-25, including a 1-8 mark in District 28-2A. Schulenburg trailed by only four after the first quarter last Tuesday but the Maidens went on a 14-4 run before halftime.
