Horns add two hard-fought wins in 28-2A

After fending off the Comanches on the road last Tuesday and out-scoring the Bulldogs late at home on Friday, the Shorthorns improved to 4-1 in District 28-2A and 9-14 on the season.

Lady Horns fall to state-ranked district foes

Shiner and Flatonia, both ranked in the top 20 in Class 2A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, handed the Lady Horns a pair of lopsided losses in District 28-2A last week. Schulenburg’s season record stood at 4-23, including an 0-6 mark in 28-2A, heading into an open date on Jan. 16.

Schulenburg Knights of Columbus Council 2902 will host the local level of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship on Saturday, Jan. 27. It will be held at Schulenburg ISD’s new gym at 10 a.m. Registration will begin at the gym starting at 9:30 a.m. There is no cost to enter.

After scoring 54 in a 31-point victory over Victoria Homeschool last Tuesday, the Lady Horns struggled from the field in a 23-point loss against district foe Bloomington on Friday. Schulenburg’s season record stood at 4-21, including an 0-4 mark in District 28-2A, heading into this week’s games.
