Horns rout Hornets, split four tourney games, fall to Cards

After a 40-point win over Louise to improve to 2-0 in 28-2A, the Shorthorns dropped three of five non-district games over the Christmas break. Schulenburg, at 6-13 on the season to start the new year, cruised to a 71-31 victory at home on Dec. 19.

Lady Horns fall to Louise, go 0-4 in Weimar tourney

To start the Christmas break, the Lady Horns suffered a four-point loss at home against Louise, dropping their District 28-2A record to 0-3. Schulenburg trailed by nine points to start the fourth quarter but pulled to within one at 35-34.

Horns start district play with 26-point victory

After the cancellation of their game last Tuesday in Wharton, the Shorthorns got District 28-2Aplay under way at home on Friday with a 63-37 win over Ganado. Schulenburg, at 3-10 on the season, jumped out to a 17-8 lead after one quarter and took a 32-18 advantage into halftime.

Zapalac receives national recognition

Lady Horn Landry Zapalac, shown in action from this past season, was among 40 players nationwide and eight from Texas selected to PrepVolleyball. com’s “Fall Stars: Class of 2026.” The sophomore setter set a Schulenburg High School record in 2023 for assists in a season with 1,494.
