Free meals at Stevens Chapel UMC

Stevens Chapel United Methodist Church and New People/New Places grant provider are hosting a “free” monthly meal each month during 2026.The free monthly meal for May will be served on Thursday, May 28 starting at 4 p.m. until the last meal is served.

Catholic Daughters provide meals for Habitat for Humanity project

A new community partnership dedicated to helping local residents age safely and comfortably in their homes officially began May 11 as volunteers gathered in Flatonia for this year’s Habitat for Humanity outreach project.

Animal Shelter statistics

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter hours of operation are as follows: open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations.On Monday, the shelter is closed to the public but staff is on-site for animal care from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Habitat ReStore open Fri., Sat.

The Fayette County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is open for sales and donation drop-offs every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 825 North Main St. in Schulenburg.The ReStore sells and accepts donations of gently used home goods, building materials and more to support Habitat’s mission.
