CCA Meals

CCAs “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Funeral services for Mrs. Van Lee Bartosh, age 88, of Weimar will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. from the St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. at the church on Friday. The Parish Rosary will be recited prior to the Mass at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

FEC, Colorado Valley host annual Shred Day

National Co-op Month in October provided a perfect opportunity for Fayette Electric Cooperative and Colorado Valley Communications to work together to help their communities through initiatives led by their employees and local board members.

Local Food Pantry serves 157 families during Oct.

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 157 families in October with a total of 496 individuals. The Pantry had five new clients with a total of 18 individuals. The amount of food given out was 7,776 pounds. Food donated was 3,162 pounds. The volunteer hours were 243.

St. Rose to host veterans Mass on Nov. 9

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School invites all veterans to a Veterans Day Mass on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 8:10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Veterans will be celebrated and honored with special readings and recognition, followed by a flag ceremony. After Mass, a reception will be held.

Animal Shelter statistics

As of Nov. 3, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,434 for the year– 665 dogs and 769 cats in need. As of Nov. 3, the shelter had 131 animals in its care – 70 dogs and 61 cats.

CDA holds collection for Food Pantry

The Catholic Daughters, Court 1597 St. Rose, collected non-perishable food as its monthly Circle of Love project. Items were donated by CDA members and the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church congregation. A total of 175 pounds of food and $20 cash was collected for the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry.
