As of Nov. 17, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,476 for the year– 678 dogs and 798 cats in need. As of Nov. 17, the shelter had 88 animals in its care – 38 dogs and 50 cats.

SENIOR DOGS IN NEED OF RESCUE! Choco is a 7-year-old American pitbull who is 70 pounds. Hazel is a 9-year-old labrador mix weighing in at 85 pounds. Both dogs have been neutered/spayed. They are both people and dog friendly. They are kennel and leash trained.

Quilt Guild welcomes help at charity workshop

The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild will hold a charity workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the Randolph Recreation Center in La Grange (the week after Thanksgiving). This workshop will benefit surrounding areas because quilts will be made for residents in nursing care facilities.

The ecumenical St. Nicholas Ministry – which has helped thousands of needy individuals and families in Colorado, Fayette and Lavaca counties over its 36-year history – is accepting donations and referrals again this year.
