Animal Shelter statistics

As of Aug. 25, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,157 for the year– 555 dogs and 662 cats in need. As of Aug. 25, the shelter had 118 animals in its care – 50 dogs and 68 cats.

CCA Meals

CCA’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Cost is $10 per week. Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

FUNERAL NOTICE - Diana Faye Surman Clark

Funeral services for Mrs. Diana Faye Surman Clark, age 69, of Schulenburg will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023 at 10 a.m. from the St. Rose Catholic Church in Schulenburg, Texas. Visitation will begin Friday, Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. with the Parish Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

FCF Community Impact Grant cycle runs Sept. 1-30

Since 2015, the Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) has awarded $43,500 to nonprofit programs enhancing local arts, culture, social welfare, health, conservation and education. FCF’s 2023 Community Impact Grant cycle will open Sept. 1 and close Sept. 30, accessible through its new online portal.

Central TX Food Bank hosts partner agency conference

The Central Texas Food Bank hosted “Nourishing Together,” a partner agency conference held in Austin on Aug. 11 and sponsored by Pimco. Addressed was the state of the supply chain with Mark Jackson, Beth Corbett and the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Blood drive slated Aug. 24 at St. Mark’s parking lot

St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange will host a blood drive on Thursday, Aug. 24, when the Bloodmobile Bus will be in the St. Mark’s parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donors can schedule their pre-ferred time @weareblood.org/ donor/schedule or call 512-2061316.
