Lucies Project welcomes donations to help dogs

Lucies Project, located in Sheridan, is a rescue, rehab, sanctuary and no-kill facility specializing in dogs that are in imminent danger of death. To support its efforts, Lucies Project operates a flea market in Sheridan and also relies on donations from the public.

St. Paul AME-Flatonia sets homecoming event Aug. 27

Men invited to ‘That Man Is You’ sessions on Fridays

Approximately 50 to 60 men meet at 6:30 a.m. on Fridays at St. Rose of Lima in Schulenburg because they want to be better men, husbands, sons and fathers. They struggle to make sense of what is going on in today’s culture, and felt alone going through these things.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret (Miksch) Pavlicek, age 88, of Schulenburg will be held Monday, Aug. 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. from the St. Rose Catholic Church in Schulenburg, Texas. Visitation will begin Sunday, Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. with the Parish Rosary to be recited at 5:30 p.m.

CCA Meals

CCA’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Cost is $10 per week. Please call 979-7434036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Animal Shelter statistics

As of Aug. 11, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,093 for the year– 522 dogs and 571 cats in need. As of Aug. 11, the shelter had 114 animals in its care – 56 dogs and 58 cats.

St. Mark’s sets blood drive

St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange will host a blood drive on Thursday, Aug. 24, when the Bloodmobile Bus will be in the St. Mark’s parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donors can schedule their pre-ferred time @weareblood.org/ donor/schedule or call 512-2061316.
