42nd anniversary Equipping the Saints to be held Feb. 7 in Victoria

2026 will mark the 42nd anniversary for Equipping the Saints (ETS), a regional event for a 12-county area, sponsored by the Bluebonnet Conference of ELCA congregations.The all-day event is being hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 North DeLeon, Victoria, on Saturday, Feb. 7.

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) Court St. Rose No. 1597 presented awards at the Christmas party held at the Schulenburg Hall in December. The annual Christmas party was held in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus and St. Rose Altar Society.

Food Pantry serves 152 families in December

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 152 families in December with a total of 524 individuals. The Pantry had three new clients with six individuals in those families. The amount of food given out was 9,910 pounds. Food donated was 10,203 pounds. Volunteer hours were 278.

Habitat ReStore open Fridays, Saturdays in Schulenburg

The Fayette County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is open for sales and donation drop-offs every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 825 North Main St. in Schulenburg.The ReStore sells and accepts donations of gently used home goods, building materials and more to support Habitat’s mission.

Rex (left) and Ike (right) are a couple of the longest residents at the shelter. They are very smart and eager to find a forever home. They would do their best in a home with an active family because of their high energy. Ike and Rex are treat-motivated, so training should be a breeze.

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter statistics

The Gardenia E. JanssenAnimal Shelter hours of operation are as follows: open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations.On Monday, the shelter is closed to the public but staff is on-site for animal care from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
