Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $11,000 to the Fayette County EMS Foundation (FCEMSF). Monies granted will be used to purchase three different training manikins specifically designed to implement life-like training.

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $20,000 to the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center (TCHCC) in La Grange. Monies donated will be used to provide school tours, programs, special events and visitor experiences at little or no cost to attendees.

Local Food Pantry serves 148 families in Sept.

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 148 families in September with a total of 469 individuals. The Pantry had six new clients with 15 individuals in those families. The amount of food given out was 8,713 pounds. Food donated was 2,954 pounds. Volunteer hours were 306.

Senior Connections, a vibrant community hub for individuals age 55 and up, welcomes seniors from Fayette, Colorado and Lavaca counties to enjoy the fun and fellowship.

Animal Shelter statistics

The Gardenia E. JanssenAnimal Shelter hours of operation are as follows: open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. On Monday, the shelter is closed to the public but staff is on-site for animal care from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
