Referrals Being Accepted for Gifted/Talented Program at SISD Schulenburg ISD is planning for the Gifted/Talented program and accepting referrals for students in grades 1-5 who may need services.

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

As of March 14, total intake for 2025 at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 294 – 159 dogs and 135 cats in need.As of March 14, the shelter had 78 animals in its care – 64 dogs and 14 cats.

KCs donate to Legion flag fund

Schulenburg Knights of Columbus Council 2902 recently donated $250 to the Schulenburg American Legion Post 143 flag fund. Flags are purchased by Post143 and placed on veterans’ graves for Memorial Day each year.

Local Food Pantry served 128 families in February

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 128 families in February with a total of 390 individuals. The amount of food given out was 7,279 pounds. Food donated was 2,570 pounds. The volunteer hours were 344.

As of March 7, total intake for 2025 at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 267 – 142 dogs and 125 cats in need.As of March 7, the shelter had 76 animals in its care – 62 dogs and 14 cats.
