The shelter ONLY takes animals from Fayette County. It’s hard to believe after decades of being proactive in educating and offering discount spay/neuters that the shelter is still taking in 1,500 animals a year from Fayette County.

CCA“Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

As of Feb. 28, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter for 2025 stood at 245 – 128 dogs and 117 cats in need.As of Feb. 28, the shelter had 77 animals in its care – 62 dogs and 15 cats.

Stepping into March, Senior Connections, the vibrant senior activities center with satellites in Flatonia and Weimar, is gearing up for a month filled with fun, friendship and the welcoming warmth of spring.
