Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $15,000 to the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC). Monies donated will be used to fund various operational costs for the La Grange satellite office.

As of Dec. 6, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,606 for the year – 717 dogs and 889 cats in need.As of Dec. 6, the shelter had 123 animals in its care – 64 dogs and 59 cats. For 2024, the shelter continues to average 32 animals incoming each week.

Local Food Pantry serves 144 families in November

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 144 families in November with a total of 458 individuals. The Pantry had two new clients with a total of two individuals. The amount of food given out was 8,082 pounds. Food donated was 8,299 pounds. The volunteer hours were 329.
