Polka Lovers Club Museum sets Christmas open house

The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) will host the annual Christmas open house on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to help museum board members and volunteers bring in the holidays with polka-style music, dancing and refreshments throughout the day.

Animal Shelter statistics

As of Nov. 29, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,563 for the year – 698 dogs and 865 cats in need.As of Nov. 29, the shelter had 143 animals in its care – 64 dogs and 79 cats.For 2024, the shelter continues to average 32 animals incoming each week.

Hermann Sons LifeSchulenburg Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 will have its annual Christmas party on Wednesday, Dec. 11 starting at 5 p.m. at Oakridge Restaurant.All members are asked to bring a $10 gift for the scholarship fund raffle.

CCA Meals

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Members of the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild proudly showcase 18 of the 26 quilts pledged to “Day One Bags Project.” Day One Bags is a nonprofit organization that provides new duffle bags and backpacks to youth in foster care to use as luggage instead of trash bags.

Sr. Connections hosts Thanksgiving celebration

Senior Connections members gathered at the KC Hall in Schulenburg on Wednesday, Nov. 20 to celebrate Thanksgiving. Over 100 members and volunteers came from Schulenburg as well as the satellites in Flatonia and Weimar.
