Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Habitat Home Supply, a resale shop that supports the mission of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity, is now open every Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.The store is located at 825 N. Main St.

Niko needs a miracle. He has been in the shelter for 145 days. He is a friendly boy with people and other dogs. He has a lot of energy and would love a friend to play with or an active family. Staff believes he is a pointer mix of some sort. He has a tall slender build, weighing in at 60 pounds.

Moulton Catholic Church to hold picnic Sept. 15

Fr. Gabriel Maison and the parishioners of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton invite everyone to their annual parish picnic on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the St. Joseph Social Center on the church grounds.The celebration will begin with Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Animal Shelter statistics

As of Sept. 6, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,164 for the year – 509 dogs and 655 cats in need.As of Sept. 6, the shelter had 127 animals in its care – 54 dogs and 73 cats.

Area food pantries represented at CTFB conference

The Central Texas Food Bank presented a H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Partners Excel) conference on Aug. 29 for its 21-county area.Among those attending were Debra Blansitt and Jack Niesner of the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry and Cassie Girard of the AMEN food pantry in La Grange.

Local Food Pantry serves 146 families in August

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 146 families in August with a total of 469 individuals. The Pantry had three new clients with a total of 12 individuals. The amount of food given out was 7,920 pounds Food donated was 4,135 pounds. The volunteer hours were 335.
